Life is Crazy

Things have been kind of crazy lately! We had a second birthday party for Xander (at my parents' house) once everyone was feeling better. He got some more Legos and was super excited for them! He loves to stack things, climb on things and play with cars!

We had another "snow" day and Gabriella went out to play in it. She could only find one glove so daddy gave her an oven mitt to use. What a cutie pie!!

Matt and I were able to cash in on our Christmas present from my parents, free babysitting while we went on a date! Woo hoo! We went on Saturday and saw The Hobbit in 3D! (I of course couponed for it and we only paid $4 total for both of us to watch it, plus we got a dvd copy of Inception).

After Xander's scary allergic reaction to cinnamon a few days after Christmas, I took him yesterday to get allergy tested to see if he had any other allergies.
He tested positive for dog and peanut allergies as well.
Ugh! So now we have to be super careful about peanut butter. The dr said that he is pretty sure there was some cross contamination in the oatmeal that made Xander have the hives, and that likely there was peanut oil in it.

The kids and I made a run to Joanns Fabric store. Just for fun. Its fun to get to see new places and things. Plus Gabriella is starting to get into crafts so it is fun to walk around and let her look at everything.

And finally, all my freebies from the mail in December. I won quite a few sweepstakes and got some awesome stuff! Its always exciting to see what arrives in the mail each day!!

Back on the Blog-Wagon

Things have been crazy busy lately and my uploader for my phone's camera changed all my file names to Chinese (yes, we bought it online from China) so I lost all my pictures :( Anyways, here are a few of the things we have been up to in the last month!

I got some free masking tape and let Gabriella play with a roll. She had a blast taping up Matt with it!

Xander loves chili! He also loves to ingest it with his entire body!
We take a lot of baths after meals.

Xander has turned into a little monkey. He climbs on everything! Gabriella insisted on taking a picture of him with her camera. She was saying, "Smile, bud!"

We had Xander's check-up with his ENT doctor. He is doing good, we are just to keep an eye on him as usual (for his lips or fingers turning blue, stopping breathing in the night, developmental problems, etc.). They thought he would have outgrown his tracheomalacia by now so we will be back in 8 months to check on him again. Hopefully he will outgrow it by age two!
We've had his lips turn blue on us twice in the last two months, but they always pink back up after a short time. I also have had to shake him a bit (quite a  few times) to get him to start breathing again at night. I'm so ready for him to be healed! This is has been so stressful! I hate listening to him breathe at night, or waking up feeling panicky because I can't hear him breathing.
He also managed to get croup again *sigh*
Okay, enough venting, moving on....

We got the Little People out of the garage and spread them out in the livingroom. Both kids loved them!!

I talked my  mom into a midnight couponing run to Walgreens on Thanksgiving morning!

Here's what I got at Walgreens (mom got the same stuff too)
I made $.61 by getting it! Regular price was $127.55 for all of it!
So happy my mom went with me! It was her first couponing trip and the biggest one I put together by myself.
Good times!!

Matt set up Christmas lights the day after Thanksgiving. Gabriella calls it her party. Everytime we get home and they are turned on she says, "Can I visit my party now?"

Gabriella helped me decorate our tree.
We put it on the table this year so the kids weren't getting into it every two seconds!

All my November freebies in the mail!!

Xander discovered that he loves hats!!

Playing with the ornaments on Gramma's tree...

My silly kids!!! Love them to pieces!!

Well, that's what we've been up to in the last month. Matt only has to work tomorrow and then gets 10 days off for vacation! We are so excited to have some fun family time and celebrate Christmas with all our family members! We are so blessed to have such great family that lives to close to us!!

Coupons & Freebies from August

Well, its the end of the month, so here is a recap of all my best deals!

Here are all my freebies that I got in the mail.
It includes a 24 count box of K-cups that I won in a sweepstakes, a ton of magazines, a 30 day starter pack of Pro-Active, two pull-ups, a protein drink shaker, personalized sandwich containers for the kids, and two Pull-ups.

This deal was done at Rite-Aid and Walgreens
I paid $9.78 for everything

Ariella and I got these together.
We paid $7.44 for all of them (they are normally $6.99 each!)

Gotta love Coupon Doubler Day at Albertsons!
Paid $22.04 for everything (normally $84.40)
This deal was a great example of a weekly savings on groceries. By combining coupons, doubler coupons and sale prices, i was able to cut my bill by 73%!

Also able to get great deals on diapers!
We use cloth (only disposables for road trips, camping, etc) but with deals like this, you could definitely make disposables more affordable!
Paid $12.84 for everything
(Normally $129.72)

August was a great month for deals.
Walgreens and Rite-Aid are both changing their coupon policies tomorrow so we shall see how that goes. But good news, Dollar Tree is now accepting coupons!

June Freebie and Coupon Wrap Up

June was a great month for couponing! I am so stocked up on EVERYTHING that it is crazy (and I am loving it!) Here are some perks that we have found since I have been couponing/getting free samples:
1. Our gas bill was 10% lower in the month of June
2. I haven't had to run to the store ONCE all month because I just needed one thing
3. Our monthly expenses were $200 lower than normal (score!)
4. Seeing a cashier's jaw drop at my purchase total is priceless
5. Gabriella yells when she sees coupons now "I see coupons!"
6. I only have to go to each store once per week

Here are all my freebies from the month of June that I received in the mail.
I had 4 days all month where I didn't get something in the mail.

I got all of these items FREE via mail-in rebate.
TIP: When I am in the store (no matter which one) I always walk down all of the aisles looking for "Try Me Free" peelies (stickers that you peel off for mail in rebates or coupons). In June General Mills/Fiber One had a great rebate program where you could try all of these products free!

I paid $8.69 for all of these items
They are regularly $62.57
(the Pedia Sure Sidekicks were a free mail in rebate)

Walgreens and Rite-Aid are great stores for getting awesome deals (so is CVS but we don't have them up here). They have Register Reward programs for a lot of their items that you pay cash for and then they give you a voucher to use the same as cash in their store on your next purchase (excluding alcohol and pharmacy).
The two boxes of fish capsules the kids vitamins were free this way.
Example: Each of those items cost $10 and then you got a $10 Register Reward back.
Here is how I bought them:
I bought 1 fish oil and then paid $10 cash and received a $10RR
On my next transaction (TIP: Splitting your purchases into separate transactions is a great way to get more than one of a special deal) I bought the kids vitamins for $10 and paid with my $10RR from the fish oil. I received another $10RR.
In my third transaction I bought the second fish oil and paid with my $10RR and received another one back. On my fourth transaction I bought everything else and paid with the third $10RR.
When everything was said and done (after mail in rebate, coupons and RR) I only paid $8.69 out of pocket (I received $10.99 back in rebate money in the mail to cover the initial $10 I paid on my first transaction)

Paid $9.46 when regularly $61.42

Paid $20.98 when regularly was $50.96
These two deals were my favorite from the month!
Partly cuz I liked the make-up and because I made the deals by myself!
I had been using Clinique's Almost Make-up for foundation because I liked the light coverage (so it didn't look clumpy and pastey) plus it has sunscreen protection in it so I never had to smear sunblock on my face. Well, they discontinued it and I was super bummed, til the June P&G (Proctor & Gamble) Brand Saver coupon booklet came out.

The Venus Razor deal was awesome!
I had a coupon for BOGO (Buy One Get One) Free that was for buying the cartridges and get the razor for free.
A BOGO Free CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara
Covergirl products in the store were BOGO 50% Off (paired with two $1/1 coupons)
The Olay Face Wash was on sale for $2.00
And a FREE Olay Body Wash when you buy any Olay face care item coupon
Next came the Register Rewards (I was at Walgreens)
I got a total of $16 back in Register Rewards (for buying covergirl, olay and venus items together at the same time)
Plus Proctor & Gamble had a rebate program in June when you spent $50 (before coupons) on qualifying items then you got $10 in mail in rebate.
(My total on these items was $60+ before coupons)
Such a great deal getting all that for the cost of one of the mascaras!

Next was the foundation and mascara deal!
Fred Meyer had coupons for spend $10 on Covergirl items and get a free Lash Blast mascara.
The two foundations were $15.99 and I had one $1/1 coupon left.
Next, I spotted a Mail in Rebate offer in a magazine that I had for $10 back on $20 worth of Covergirl & Olay items (which the foundations were). So instead of buying a couple eye shadows, I decided to try the foundations instead.
I did the transaction twice and got two foundations and two mascaras for $20.98 after coupons and rebate.
I LOVE the foundation! It works just as good as Clinique's did and was WAY more affordable.
(Plus I traded one of the mascaras to my mom for 3 dozen canning jars!)

Couponing seems daunting and intimidating, but once you get the hang of it you can start making and finding your own deals (then you feel like a rockstar!) Its like a fun game/contest to me to see what I can find in the store for free or on great deals.
My family is now able to use name brand EVERYTHING (fancy make-up, brand new on the market toothpastes, etc.) for way cheaper than buying generic at Walmart.

Best Coupon Deals For May

May was a good month for couponing!

These are all the freebies that came in the mail during the month of May.

Its like Christmas every day. I always have a free sample of some sort in the mail every day. I love it!
After Matt and I have taken out what we can use/want, then I get to take it over to my parent's house and let them and my siblings go through it and pick out things that they want.
*The Arm & Hammer toothpaste, Vaseline lotion and Arm & Hammer laundry soap were free samples through an online trial site called smiley360.com*

This deal cost us only $3.01 and Matt made it even better than I had sent him to the store expecting to get because he found bottles with "peelies" (stick-on coupons that are for instant savings at the register). Good job, honey!

I made $1.02 profit on this deal!
(through mail-in rebates)

Made $2.56 profit
(again, using mail-in rebates. Pairing a coupon with a mail-in rebate is an instant money maker for you!)

Paid $0.72

Here is a picture of some of my couponing surplus. We are stocked up on cleaning supplies, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, hand soap and paper towels for at least 6 months.

I am still loving couponing and getting great deals. I have been able to get great deals for lots of people in my family too, so that is super fun. Its great to have name brand items for significantly less than generic at Walmart. Such a blessing to be able to save so much money as a stay at home mom and make my hard working hubby's paychecks go even further.

If you ever have any questions or want more information on any of these specific deals, please let me know!

Couponing

I've recently found a new activity, couponing! I'd always seen those shows on tv about people who scored crazy deals and wondered how they did that. I'm nowhere near to being an "extreme couponer", but I think I'm doing pretty good! As a stay at home mom, I need something to do all day (come on, none of us actually want to do all that housework our little ones create constantly). Here are some recent deals that Matt and I have gotten in the last couple weeks. (he's been a great sport about taking a pile of coupons to Target on his lunch break for me!)

4/12/12 Walmart
Paid: $3.98
Regular Price (before coupons and mail-in Rebates): $21.38

4/5/12 at Target
Paid: $11.92
Regular Price: $22.44

4/4/12 At Walmart
Paid $3.92 for everything
Regularly: $10.90

3/27/12 Harbor Freight
Paid $3.21 for everything
Regularly: $28.57

3/23/12 at Michaels
Paid $6.06 for both
Regular Price before coupons & Sales was $24.98

4/12/12 at Target
Paid:$5.13
Regular Price:$19.93

I'd like to think we are doing pretty good.
Most of the deals that I get are from the website http://hip2save.com/
Its great because I always wondered how you could use multiple coupons on the same item, load coupons up and get great freebies to. On this website she outlines exactly how to put in store coupons together with manufacturers coupons and pair them up with great sales. For example, all the GreenWorks products in the picture right above. I had coupons for $2 off each of them, used them at a sale with a promo for "buy three products get free dish soap". So it was a mega deal!

If you are at all interested in couponing, even just a little bit, I highly recommend the hip2save website. She also posts links for freebies and other great deals (such as free shipping and mega internet sales).

Also, if you come across any couponing tips or things that work really well for you, please let me know!
